Be it their favourite beauty product to use or the one they think represents their personality most, some of my best beauty industry pals answer the question: If you were a beauty product, what would you be and why?
Laura Capon, Beauty Writer at Cosmopolitan Online
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, because everyone thinks I’m unnecessary until they realise they can’t live without me… oh and I’m hard to get hold of…
Amrita Jaurre, Beauty PR at Dowal Walker
A Beautyblender – it fixes everything. Blotchy foundation? Blend it out. Cakey powder? Blend it out. Heavy eyeshadow? Blend it out.
Lisa Potter-Dixon, Head makeup artist at Benefit
I would be a pink lipstick like Benefit Fuchsia Fever. Why? Well, a lipstick always makes you feel and look better. You’d be involved in loads, from good conversations, kisses, cocktails and laughter. Basically a good lipstick is the equivalent of the life and soul of the party!
Georgia Day, Head of Editorial & Content at Space NK
If I were a beauty product I would be NARS The Multiple in Orgasm. Forget the saucy connotations, my reasoning is that a good blusher like this ultra flattering peach has all the good personality traits: cheery, suits all, and has the ability to perk up even the grumpiest/tiredest of faces/people in a flash! I like to think it’s stylish without being over the top, too. In short, keep it in your makeup bag and whip it out whenever you need a boost.
Ana Kaplan, Beauty PR at Murad
Definitely a perfume so that people can always tell when I am coming! The pink Narcisso Rodriguez; it’s me in a bottle.
Rose Gallagher, Beauty Personal Shopper, Writer & Blogger
Definitely a copper eyeshadow because it makes eyes pop. My favourite is Antiqued by MAC.
George Driver, Beauty Editor at ELLE Online
If I was a beauty product I would be an ever-changing rainbow lipstick – which yes, I’m aware doesn’t exist, but stay with me here. It would be the ideal matte finish lipstick that lasts all day without using a lip liner and depending on what colour I fancied it would change to suit that. One day bright red, the next day a super dark brown, another a peachy pink. Sounds high maintenance but it means my lazy approach to makeup, aka keep everything the same just change the lipstick, is achievable.
Gregory Allen, Beauty Journalist at GLAMOUR
An acid, definitely. Maybe DCL Multi-Action Pads. I am tough and occasionally hurt but at the end I leave you better off.
Beth Atkins, Beauty PR at Clinique
I’d be Clinique Moisture Surge Supercharged Concentrate. Why? Because it’s iconic and you always need more.
Olivia De Courcy, Junior Editor at Brides Online
Tony Moly Panda White Sleeping Mask because if I can’t be a panda IRL then I will take it in mask form. Plus it *actually* makes you look like you’ve had a good night’s sleep – I’d like to think I’m helping a gal out after a late night out with too much wine.
Ayesha Muttucumaru, Senior Features Writer at Get The Gloss
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II because it gets along with most people, it’s dependable and it also has a super long name that’s a bit of a mouthful to say!
Sophie Rivers, Beauty PR at TCS
A red lipstick. It always makes you feel more positive and it boosts confidence. The one I get the most compliments on is the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Heartbreaker.
Frances Prescott, Makeup artist & founder of Francis Prescott Skincare
I would be Neal’s Yard SPF 30 for Face because it smells so gorgeous, like wild roses. It’s also fabulously soothing and moisturising with lots of antioxidants.
Gina Garbutt, Beauty PR at TCS
I would be fake tan- lotion, mousse or instant – it doesn’t matter.. you’ve just got to glow! Because hopefully I can perk you up, accentuate your best assets and if it all ends up a mess there’s always a plan B.
Rebecca Lee, Beauty PR at Pure
I think I would be a cleanser – probably Medik8’s betaCleanse, because I love the idea of wiping the day away.
